"I fell in love with someone so completely before I knew addiction would become the biggest battle of our lives". 

The vicious cycle of addiction and incarceration unfolded quickly. The expectation was that he would return home, rebuild his life, make amends with his children, and move forward, all while facing many of the same barriers, circumstances, and struggles that had been there before, but without the tools or skills needed to create a different outcome.

When I found my way into recovery work, first as a facilitator and then in case management, I finally found a place where I didn’t have to explain. I was understood. I was accepted. And I realized I was recovering, too.

That became the heart of Rise n Rebuild.

I treat every person who walks through our doors like they’re my own loved one—with respect, dignity, kindness, and grace.

Because tomorrow, it could be my loved one asking for help.

I hope someone shows up for them, too.
